The story of Project Sweep-Up Nyc begins in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn. The organization was born out of the founders desire to see the sidewalks, streets, small parks & public spaces of New York City, free from garbage, food & construction waste, debris build up, storm drain trash, cigarette litter and single use plastic containers. The only way to conquer this challenge was to form an organization dedicated to dealing with this issue.
Transporting street sweeping teams and volunteers to neighborhoods throughout New York City, One sweep at a time we tackle all forms of street trash, clean up overflowed sidewalk waste containers, clean green spaces, tree beds, small parks, public spaces, illegal dumping grounds and lastly clean transit bus stops.
In New York city there exists communities that have been historically marginalized and under served when it comes to sanitation services. Project Sweep-Up places these communities at the forefront of its mission. We prioritize these communities where negative environmental impact is visibly high, while still servicing the rest of New York city areas that struggles with environmental challenges.
We are an emerging environmental cleanup group that is dedicated to fighting & eradicating urban pollution. We remove trash, debris, cigarette litter, gutter waste and single use plastic items from our sidewalks, streets, storm drains, green spaces and communities throughout New York city that are under served.
Five days a week Project Sweep Up Nyc travels throughout New York city along various routes, pursuing it's mission of environmental justice, eradicating waste & pollution from communities that currently struggle with this issue.
Communities that are visibly cleaner, have an improvement in air quality, less instances of asthma and allergies, promote community interaction, attracts investments and brings about a sense of pride within the residents and visitors of that neighborhood.
